The Great Access Program (GAP) is a flagship initiative of the Anamon Foundation designed to empower underserved youth by removing financial and academic barriers to education. Through fully funded scholarships, provision of essential school supplies, and accessible academic support, GAP creates opportunities for children to learn, grow, and succeed in safe and nurturing environments.
The program focuses on children from deprived communities across Ghana, particularly those who are orphaned, abandoned, or living in extreme poverty.
The Great Access Program (GAP) is more than an education initiative—it is a lifeline for children who would otherwise be left behind. By removing barriers and providing essential support, the Anamon Foundation is empowering the next generation to reach their full potential and build a brighter future.
The goal of GAP is to eliminate financial barriers to education for underserved children, increase access to quality education from basic school through university, improve academic performance and confidence among students, reduce school dropout rates in deprived communities, support families by easing the burden of educational expenses, and create equal opportunities for children regardless of background.
Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty, yet thousands of children in Ghana continue to face significant barriers to accessing quality education. Although Ghana has made remarkable progress in expanding access through the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy and compulsory basic education, poverty remains one of the leading reasons why many children are unable to enroll in school, attend regularly, or complete their education.
According to UNICEF Ghana, an estimated 450,000 school-age children are out of school, with children from poor households, rural communities, and marginalized populations disproportionately affected. Many families struggle to afford school uniforms, books, transportation, examination fees, learning materials, and other indirect costs of education, even where tuition is free.
The Ghana Statistical Service (2021 Population and Housing Census) also shows that educational attainment remains significantly lower in rural and economically disadvantaged communities, where poverty continues to limit opportunities for children to remain in school.
For orphans, abandoned children, and those living in vulnerable households, the barriers are even greater. Many are forced to drop out of school to work, care for younger siblings, or because there is simply no one able to meet the costs associated with their education. Without intervention, these children face a much greater risk of lifelong poverty, unemployment, child labor, early marriage, and poor health outcomes.
Through the GAP Scholarship Aid, the Anamon Foundation provides comprehensive financial support to enable vulnerable children to access and complete quality education.
The program provides full educational sponsorship for carefully selected beneficiaries from deprived communities, with particular emphasis on:
Our commitment extends beyond school enrollment—we support each child throughout their educational journey, from basic education through college or university, helping them achieve their full potential.
We believe that no child should be denied an education because of poverty. By removing financial barriers and providing long-term support, the GAP Scholarship Aid empowers children to remain in school, achieve academic success, and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Every scholarship is more than financial assistance—it is an investment in human potential, community development, and the future of Ghana.
The Anamon Foundation believes that starting the school year with the right tools promotes learning, boosts self-esteem, and helps children stay in school.
However, many families struggle to afford the long list of required school supplies each year.
The Back-to-School Initiative addresses this need by providing free school supplies to underprivileged children every summer in preparation for the new academic year.
Each child receives a B2S Backpack containing approximately 25 grade-appropriate school supplies.
